At Dun Dealgan Childcare we know becoming a parent changes your life forever, and choosing the right early years provider can feel like a big step. Value For Money
- At Dun Dealgan Childcare we take away the stress of preparing food for your children by providing hot meals for full time day care. We provide a breakfast for all children a mid-morning snack and part time and full-time children receive a hot meal. The afternoon children will get an afternoon snack. All prepared in our HACCP approved kitchen.

Statement of Intent
- We have regard for ‘Ready, Steady, Play!’ The National Play Policy.
- We ensure all children have opportunity to enhance their physical development.
- We aim to provide a wide range of quality physical activity opportunities both within and outside the set curriculum for children.
- We aim to ensure that all children have the opportunity to develop their confidence, self-esteem and enthusiasm to participate in physical activity.
- We aim to establish a genuine interest in physical activity among children and promote the importance of physical play with parents.
Policy and Procedure
- All areas of the setting are well supervised and appropriate levels of staff are present to ensure children have the freedom to move around and play safely
- Children are given daily opportunities to play outdoors including planned and unplanned physical activities.
- The outdoor play area is viewed by all as an extension to the indoor environment and staff recognise the importance of physical activity both in the outdoor and indoor environment.
- Outdoor equipment is appropriate to the age and stage of development of all children in Dun Dealgan Childcare.
- Weather proof clothing should be provided by the parent and left in your child’s room (e.g. sun hats, rain jackets etc.) to allow for outdoor activities all year round.
- Provisions are in place for children with additional needs to participate in physical play activities.
- The Manager will ensure that physical activities will be fun and as non-competitive as possible.
The hours of the service are 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. We close all bank holidays and we close the first two weeks in Aug and at Easter and one week at Christmas. ECCE calendar is different to the normal calendar of the creche as the holidays are longer. Please see ECCE calendar.
If you are running late, we ask that you contact the service to advise them so that the staff can ensure that the child will not be upset. If we do not hear from you and can not get in contact with you, we will ring the contact numbers on your child’s registration form. There will also be a fee of €5 per 5 minutes for cases in this scenario.
At Dun Dealgan Childcare we work together with the parents over a settling in period of a few days to ensure that the child is happy in their new environment. Your child will be allocated a key approach early years educator. They will build a rapport with your child and get to know them. This should install confidence in the child and ease the transition. Every child is different regarding settling in time. We are happy to work with you to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Our staff are fully trained to support children during this developmental stage. We will work closely with you and ask you to bring some spare underwear and clothing.
Yes, all staff are Garda vetted prior to commencing employment. They also will have two references validated and checked before a new staff commences employment in Dun Dealgan Childcare.
Parents are asked to provide nappies, wipes, dummy if required. Please label your child’s belongings. A suitable jacket or coat would be provided.
Yes, there is a deposit for all childcare places: €150 for part time children, €200 for full time children, €100 sessional and €70 for ECCE places. This will be retained. ECCE deposits will be refunded on October 30th.
All fees are paid monthly or if you wish to pay weekly this can be arranged also with approval from the service. All fees must be paid in advance and standing order payment is the preferred method of payment. On acceptance of a place, a deposit is payable, which is refunded provided Dun Dealgan Childcare is given one months’ notice of intention to leave. There is a non-refundable registration fee of €25.
Places will not be secured until payment, along with registration forms have been returned. Fees must be paid when the child is not in attendance due to illness, and when the service is closed due to public holidays and Christmas.
Your ECCE place is fully funded provided that you meet the criteria to qualify for a place. You must indicate if you wish to have your child enrolled for one or two years. ECCE forms will have to be filled in within the first week of preschool to claim the free preschool year. Deposit – We request a €70 deposit to secure your place. This is refundable to you once the ECCE place is confirmed and providing the child does not require the second year of ECCE. There is also a non-refundable fee of €25 to process the administration required for your child and must be paid in advance.
