Our Toddler Room
Your toddler will gradually start to develop language skills, begin to understand and talk about the world around them and quickly progress their physical skills, as they become more confident walking, running and climbing!
Emphasis will be put on expanding vocabulary through songs, role play and storytelling as your toddler starts forming sentences in everyday life. Indoor and outdoor activities are now becoming more interesting with a higher level of interaction, aiding the development of good communication skills.
Most importantly, our toddlers have fun! By having fun and incorporating a play-based curriculum our toddlers development excels day by day. Activities such as; arts and crafts, baking, music, physical exercise and circle time is incorporated into the daily routine.
As your toddler becomes more and more independent, our experienced Early Years Educators will adapt the routine and activities to suit his/her emerging interests.
Toilet training will be discussed with parents and implemented when the time is right for your child. We will work closely with you during this important stage in your child’s life.
Our Early Years Educators will update your child’s daily progress on the Mosaic App with updates regarding each stage of your child’s day; meals, sleep times, nappy changing, activities and we will also fill you in on any interesting stories we have to share about our day in crèche!

What is the ECCE Programme?
Dun Dealgan Childcare participates in the Early Childhood Care and Education scheme, we provide children of appropriate age with subsidised pre-school education. The ECCE programme is designed to give children access to a pre-school year of programme-based activities.
Participation in a pre-school programme provides children with their first formal experience of early learning, the starting-point of their educational and social development outside the home. Our Pre-School Curriculum is centred around the national framework for early years education and care and we adhere to the Aistear Curriculum and the principles outlined in Síolta.
Is my child eligible for the scheme?
If your child is 2 years and 8 months of age or older by August 31st of the year of entry. Then your child is eligible.
What is included in the ECCE scheme at Dun Dealgan Childcare?
- Full Preschool curriculum and activities are included in the preschool year such as; assessment portfolio, weekly educational themes, parent-teacher meetings, physical education, arts and crafts, music, cookery, Graduation ceremony and Santa visits.
- The core hours for ECCE are 9:00am to 12 noon & 1.30 to 4.30pm, for 38 weeks
- Children in full-time/part-time childcare who are eligible for the ECCE pre-school year(s) will receive the ECCE grant for their enrolled days care via a deduction from their monthly amount payable.
- A child’s enrolled care transitions with them into pre-school, should a parent/guardian wish to change their child’s care as they move into pre-school this will depend on availability at that time.
Duration of the ECCE Scheme
The ECCE scheme runs for 10 months (September – June)
